The IZ311A is designed for Tempest measurements of conducted emissions on power lines. The filter is improving suppression of low frequencies below 5kHz in connection with some PLISNs. The insertion loss is very low – below 0.75dB up to 1GHz. Insertion loss at 5 kHz is 0.6 dB. Suppression of fundamental powerline frequency is 85 dB (50 Hz and 60 Hz). Leakage power line voltage amplitude is less than 20mV which is much less than limiting threshold of transient limiter. Care must be taken with sensitive preamplifiers because the level of fundamental frequency is in the range of 80dBμV which can together with higher harmonics produce compression in the low noise preamplifier of a receiver. If measurement on low audio frequencies is not required the IZ311B filter may be preferred. The IZ311A filter is designed as 3rd order T configuration with 1.2μF decupling capacitors at the input and output. Maximum operating voltage is 700 V rms at 50/60 Hz.
